Thread Vein Removal

Thread veins or spider veins (telangiectasia) are very small broken veins which can be seen on the skin, often on the legs or face. We have a history of providing successful outcomes in the reduction of thread veins. We use Thermavein which is a unique treatment and technology with over 100,000 successful treatments worldwide. Facial thread veins often found around the nose, cheeks, eyelids and onto the forehead area which appear as small unsightly superficial red, purple or blue veins. Thread veins occur when the vein dilates and becomes large enough to be visible through the transparency of the skin. They are caused by a variety of factors, Alcohol is a common factor related to spider veins across the cheeks. Others include exposure to sunlight, wind and the extremes of temperature (usually from working outside). The over use of steroid creams and certain auto immune conditions may also induce thread veins. Even from having a cold can cause trauma to the nasal veins, often the exact cause is unknown. ThermaVein uses a unique process known as Thermocoagulation which seals the vein walls with a microcurrent of heat causing them to permanently disappear.

How long does a treatment take?

A typical treatment should take no more than 15 minutes, immediately after this the patient will see a significant improvement in their condition sometimes a total eradication. The skin will immediately show some redness in the area worked on but will calm down later on in the day and scabbing a few days later.

How long before I see results?

Results are instant, see the photos below for proof. The treatment is very visual and you will notice the veins disappear as they are touched with the pen. Immediately after the treatment the veins will be completely gone, this leads to a real “Wow” response the first time you look in the mirror.

Is it painful?

We are unable to classify our treatment as pain-free as different individuals have varying tolerance levels. It has been likened to a similar sensation of a flick with an elastic band or having a hair plucked. Any sensation felt during treatment will subside as soon as the treatment stops and cooling aloe vera gel is applied.

How long is the recovery time?

It can take from 3- 7 days for the skin to heal after treatment varies from person to person. We do advise not to have treatments if you have anything special on that week. You should expect redness and slight scabbing for up to a week after the procedure is completed, and you must not pick the scabs. For 2 weeks after the treatment we advise no scrubbing of the skin such as the use of exfoliators. Immediately after the treatment you must wear SPF 30 until the skin is healed.

Does the treatment cure the condition?

The treatment will remove visible signs of the condition and in many cases it will not recur. There are a wide range of underlying causes which may lead to new areas developing. If this happens a top up treatment will clear the condition. If there are concerns of recurrence we generally advise a review of the patient 4-8 weeks after the treatment if possible and a yearly review can stop any new areas developing.

How much does it cost?

Some people need more treatments than others, so we have designed a pricing plan to suit everyone’s needs. In your consultation we will give you a price for your thread vein removal and an expectation of how many treatments you will need. The prices will vary dependent on the amount of veins we need to treat. Our prices range from £150-£400.
